Empathy!

by | 30 Nov 2018

On 03 November 2018 I was coming to USA from Bangladesh and I got sick in the plane. When we landed at Shannon Airport, County Clare, Ireland I started shaking in the queue to final checking before flying to JFK airport, New York, USA. I was shaking because my fever was coming back stronger than before. There was an airport security personnel standing near me. I was sure he saw me but he didn’t say a word or did anything. I knew people do not care for others mostly and my skin color didn’t help either. I took two Tylenols (pain reliever/fever reducer) in the line as I was shaking. Right before going to the scanner there was another harsh lady sending people into two different smaller queues. I told her I am feeling sick and she responded with her rough voice, “we can’t do anything about it but get into the line, so you can be checked”. Because of the medicine my shaking subsided, so without telling anything to anyone I just went through checking. I wonder if I had dropped on the floor what they would do!!!
