My Grandmother

by | 19 Aug 2016

My mother’s mother is an unfortunate woman. She lost a daughter at its infancy, a son died at his childhood, a daughter died leaving three little kids – she raised the youngest one of them. Her husband died in her mid forties. Never married again she lived most of her adult life alone. Later her oldest child (daughter) died in her forties. Two of her son-in-laws whom she loved dearly also died. I am sure every death of her loved one left a gaping hole in her heart. Her husband’s death made her helpless and scared too. She may have lived her life in fear of getting another death news. Now she is mostly sick and very fragile in her eighties. She has 7 living children but she only sees them one at a time most of the time since they don’t live nearby. Her oldest living daughter (my mother) lives in the USA, so she can only see her once in a 4/5 years (she lives in Bangladesh). Life is not fair – not even close to it.

Last Tuesday was Election Day. There was not enough publicity about the candidates, so I didn't know anyone or their agenda. You wouldn't believe; I voted for the names that sounded better. The vote started at 7:00AM and I voted at 5:00PM. Yet, I was the 25th voter....

Verizon Sucks

After having it for more than three years I had to cancel my Verizon Internet (FIOS) service on 09 September 2017. When I was cancelling I mentioned that bill close date was 06 September, so can I be excused for the last two days but she said no and I would be paying...

Sequestration Sickens Me

I thought working for our government is rewarding in itself. I am sorry to say that our legislatures love to belittle us every chance they get. We were deprived of any pay raise for the last two years when living and insurance costs went up. We already got 2% pay cut...

Displaying Formatted Text

Dynamically displaying formatted text is a pain. A label control can’t keep the format. People suggest to use multiline texbox but that doesn’t look good in a web page for announcement. Some suggests to use RichTextBox but that requires a great deal of coding. I...
