Fun, Waves, and Celebrations: Our Havre de Grace Vacation

by | 15 Sep 2023

Every year, my family and I eagerly anticipate our family vacation, a time to unwind and make special memories together. This year held extra significance as we gathered in Havre de Grace, a city in Maryland, to celebrate my parents’ remarkable 50th wedding anniversary. Situated right where the Susquehanna River meets the Chesapeake Bay, Havre de Grace is a beautiful place to explore and enjoy nature.

One of the surprises Havre de Grace had in store for us was its shallow waters. We absolutely loved it! The water was so shallow that we could wade in it comfortably. We spent hours splashing around, fishing, and soaking up the sun. The kids had a blast, and the adults couldn’t resist the temptation of the shallow waters.

One of the most exciting parts of our vacation was our fishing adventures. Armed with fishing nets and hooks, we cast our lines into the water, hoping for a big catch. At first, the waves crashing against the shoreline seemed intimidating, but we saw it as a thrilling challenge. As the days passed, we became more skilled at conquering those waves and catching some fish to cook for dinner.

One of the unique things about Havre de Grace is that it’s located at the junction of a river and a bay. This means we got to experience something really cool: high and low tides! Every few hours, we watched as the water level rose and fell, reminding us of the natural rhythms of our planet.

In the end, our Havre de Grace vacation was a blast. We celebrated my parents’ 50 years of love and togetherness in a beautiful vacation house, conquered the waves while fishing, and had a fantastic time in the shallow waters. Plus, the daily show of high and low tides was a fascinating bonus. Overall, it was a truly enjoyable vacation filled with family fun and the wonders of nature.
