Power of Social Media

by | 4 Mar 2017

There is no doubt social media is very powerful – Turkish President was able to thwart a coup by posting his video message in twitter. Recently, I was able to use it for my benefit too. I fought with Whirlpool’s supervisor (over the phone) to fix my microwave oven but his response was – it is their policy that they don’t fix any cosmetic damage of the machine regardless if it falls under the initial one year warranty.

After that I took my fight to the social media (Twitter) and started bashing whirlpool publicly. Within a day, I got a phone call to call their customer service. After I called I was told by a lady at whirlpool’s corporate office that fixing the oven was not cost effective, so they would give me a new unit. Believe it or not when I was talking to the aforementioned supervisor he told me to fix the cosmetic damage on my own and I knew it would cost me more that the cost of the machine. This corporate lady proved my point.

Finally, on 27 February 2017 they came and replace the old microwave with a new one. However, this unit could be a refurbished machine even though it looks new because the fan makes a little noise when we run it. If it goes bad soon I will write again about it whether whirlpool do anything about it or not. Nonetheless, I thank whirlpool for doing the right thing at the end.

Just changed my web hosting company. It was a time consuming task. Export from old hosting company and import to the new one using Word Press menu doesn’t really export/import everything. I had to add some widgets and change the default Settings of Permalinks. Also,...

Obnoxious Driver

Around noon on Saturday 13 July 2019 I was driving towards Queens, NYC on Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE) and little before exit 23 (still in Brooklyn) I was trying to go to the right lane but a car came too fast and too close to mine in the right lane, so I went...

I was shocked to hear that our neighbor, Michael Brown, passed away on May 2, 2024, and even more so to find out only after thirty days had passed. I had gone to see him because I noticed his house was up for sale. I assumed he was moving to Florida or somewhere else...

Sequestration Sickens Me

I thought working for our government is rewarding in itself. I am sorry to say that our legislatures love to belittle us every chance they get. We were deprived of any pay raise for the last two years when living and insurance costs went up. We already got 2% pay cut...
